Sand Animation using SandStory consists of sand art images created by Joe Castillo as he draws in sand with his hands on a light table. The performance is choreographed to live or recorded music, performed live on stage and video projected on a screen for large audiences. ArtStory is a spoken messages illustrated by Joe Castillo on a 4′ x 8′ easel. WordStory is a spoken message by Joe Castillo given with storytelling drama. Joe Castillo is perfect for any Christian conference, youth conference, youth pastor conference, outreach event or church service.

Joe Castillo is one of the first and the premier sand animation “SandStory” artist in the world today. He as inspired millions of people through his Sand Animation and introduced many to this new art form, including Kseniya Simonova. She went on to win “Ukraine’s Got Talent in 2009” and has become an internet phenomenon as millions of people watched her Amazing Sand Drawing on Youtube and Google. Joe Castillo is an internationally known artist, author and storyteller with a passion for promoting a ministry using the visual arts as a way of touching the heart. He has traveled to fourteen countries, performed for world leaders and churches across the country.

SandStory Presentations

THE PASSION (10 min. to 20 min)

A dramatic depiction of the betrayal, beating and crucifixion of Christ performed to the powerful music of Mel Gibson’s motion picture, “The Passion of the Christ.” This presentation has been used effectively as an outreach and evangelistic presentation.

OUTREACH NIGHT (45 to 60 min.)

This presentation is designed to reach those who are far away from God. He begins by introducing his marvelous new art form “SandStory” with a 10 version of “Creation” ending with the fall and the great need for redemption. Following up with a “SandStory” telling of the prodigal son; humankind running away from the God that loves them, concluding with an invitation and the powerful 20 minute heart stirring presentation of “The Passion.”

CREATION (10 min. to 22 min.)

Six days of creation…plants, fish, birds, animals…ending with the creation of Adam and Eve.

THE MIRACLE OF CHRISTMAS (10 or 20 min.)

From the appearance of the angel to Mary, Mary and Joseph’s travel to Bethlehem to the birth in the stable. A touching story for the Advent season. This presentation has been used effectively as an outreach and evangelistic presentation.

THE PRODIGAL (10 min.)

The struggle of willfulness, rebellion and failure overshadowed by the power of grace, forgiveness and love based on the parable of the prodigal son. This performance can be used as a time of restitution and healing.

A BABY CHANGES EVERYTHING (6 min.)

A touching SandStory of the song by Faith Hill about how much a pregnancy and a child changes things. And the eternal change made by the birth of Christ.

MY LORD’S PRAYER (6 min.)

Based on the best known prayer in the entire world, this performance illustrates The Lord’s Prayer in an entirely unique way and touches people with the beauty of the words, the music and magical sand animations.

WHAT IF (6 min.)

A powerful song by Matt McCoy, is illustrated in sand asks the question what would it be like if my heart was fully committed to the one who gave himself for me.

PARABLES (8 min.)

Four of Christ’s best known parables illustrated in Sand. The Wedding Feast, The Talents, The Mustard Seed and the Parable of the Yeast each illustrated in a short 3 min. vignettes.

CELEBRATE LIFE (8-12 min.)

The joy of life, hope, fun and happiness. People enjoying going through the stages of life.

GOD BLESS THE USA (4 Min)

Lee Greenwood’s classic patriotic song done in Sand with images of the flag, our finest and the statue of liberty.

INVISIBLE CHILDREN (3 min.)

A touching portrayal of needy children to a lovely song by Chris McCall, created for the ministry of Compassion International.

BAR MITZVAH / BAT MITZVAH SANDSTORY PERFORMANCE

The use of Sand in a Bar/Bat Mitzvah SandStory presentation is very significant because of the promise G_d gave to Abraham “I will multiply your descendents as the sand of the sea shore.”

Performed to traditional Hebrew music, it is the story of the child on a pilgrimage to becoming a ‘child of the commandment.’ The images can include a young child on a road wearing a Yarmulke and Tefillin, the Torah, a Mezuzah with the letter Shin, the Tzitzit and Tallit, a Menorah, the Star of David, the Chai (living), with the two Hebrew letters Chet and Yod, a Hamesh Hand, and an hour glass with the falling sand. The performance ends with a Sand portrait of the young person being celebrated.
