Sand Art for Movember Movement
The Movember Movement raises awareness of testicular and prostate cancers while generating funds for research and treatment through challenging men to commit to growing and grooming moustaches during the month of November each year.
These “Mo Bros” and their unique facial hair invite conversations that serve as on the spot education opportunities about testicular and prostate cancer. Through fund raising gala events and registered drives, Mo Bros help raise money for a variety of survivor, treatment, prevention and research initiatives. Money from the Movember movement provides funding for programs run by the organization and their partners including the Prostrate Cancer Foundation, LiveSTRONG and the Global Action Plan. Originating in Australia, the Movember Movement has put a face on men’s cancer awareness that engages and encourages hope.
Moustaches of Sand, Men of Daring is a “SandStory” created by artist and story teller, Joe Castillo. Using deft movements of sand on a light box set to music, Castillo opens the door to the infinite possibilities of moustaches and what they represent. Most importantly, he sets the stage the way only a master story teller can that rouses audience curiosity and keeps them positively engaged while delivering a powerful message. Joe Castillo has performed this unique sand art before dignitaries around the world and was introduced to the American public on a grand level through his performance of a SandStory in the 2012 finals of “America’s Got Talent.” Movember has utilized not just his visual talents, but his spoken mastery as well. Joe’s charming and eloquent ability to connect with audiences on a verbal and visual level make him a powerful presenter on any subject.
