The Dubai Events and Promotions Establishment (DEPE), was created with the objective of steering the helm of yet another brainchild of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai. Launched to be an executor of the government’s policy to position Dubai on the world map as an unmatched tourist and business haven, DEPE created the Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) and Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS) as events that go hand-in-hand with Dubai’s strategic target of attracting 15 million tourists by the year 2015.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, in his capacity as the Ruler of Dubai, issued a decree on 28th October 2009, establishing it as a government body under the name of Dubai Events and Promotions Establishment, one of four other leading entities operating under the Dubai Department of Economic Development (DED). Dubai Events and Promotions Establishment has envisioned a new strategy that is anchored around creativity and its tireless efforts to shed extensive light on the enviable tourist potential of the Emirate and the pioneering projects established across the magnet of the Gulf. The main architects of this ambitious strategy are the DSF, DSS, Eid in Dubai, along with the development of a global brand – Modhesh, the ever-smiling mascot. The theme this year is “Dubai, your summer destination of surprises”

The Bucket Boys are the featured performer at Dubai Festival City. The Bucket Boys are a progressive percussion duo- combine high-energy rhythm and surprisingly funny comedy to deliver an interactive performance of sight, sound and laughter. This hilarious duo from Chicago are expert percussionists, but they make all their noise using buckets, bin lids, pots, pans and street signs.
The Dubai Summer Surprise is an annual shopping extravaganza that lasts for over two months during the months from June to August. The Dubai Summer Surprise was envisioned as an addition to the Dubai Shopping festival which gained worldwide acclaim not only for the great duty free shopping bargains but also for the wonderful themed events that were staged concurrently. The Dubai Summer Surprise was meant to be an event that could be enjoyed by the whole family, it features a variety of entertainment activities, music and drama performances and of course the excellent Dubai shopping experience.
