“Kids in my neighborhood loved playing cops and robbers, which I hated, because I was always forced to be the prostitute” Anthony Griffith

Making people laugh as hard as humanly possible, is Anthony Griffith’s mission as a stand up comedian. Armed with funny tales of his childhood and eccentric relatives and friends, help lay the foundation for Anthony’s hilarious insights about marriage, family life and the pursuit of sanity. At home with secular, religious and combined audiences , Anthony’s  appeal stems from his southern charm, positive outlook on life and his ability to bring his characters to life. It is this style that has made Anthony an audience favorite at churches, corporate events, concerts and comedy clubs and has catapulted him to  over twenty-five national comedy television appearances, including, “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno”, “HBO”, “Comedy Central”, funny videos on YouTube as well as others.

Born in Chicago Illinois, Anthony’s desire was to become a world renown escape Artist. ” While other boys were playing sports in high school, I was getting out of handcuffs, chains and straightjackets. I still played basketball, (escape artistry wasn’t in vogue yet with the women), but by this time I had become a fan of the legendary escape artist Harry Houdini. I was building a fan base in the community, until unexpectedly someone stole my straight jacket. One of the drawbacks growing up in the inner city. My attempt to get another one through my parents was met with resistance. “You need another straight jacket? Boy, you act like straight jackets grow on trees”.

While in college I took up stand up comedy where I preformed at comedy clubs, colleges, restaurants, hotels, strip clubs, etc. “I performed anywhere and everywhere, in the hopes of learning and mastering the craft.” ’s Hard work was rewarded in the nineties by appearing on Ed McMahon’s, “Star Search”, “The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson”, “HBO” and “Showtime”, just to name a few. While I was turning heads as a stand-up, I was quietly landing acting roles in films as the cult classic, “Tales from the Hood”, Mario Van Pebbles, “Panther”, “The Curve” and the television drama “Our Father”, where I was awarded an Emmy.

This decade continues to keep me busy with performances on “The Tonight Show” with Jay Leno, Comedy Central’s “Premium Blend” and “Curb Your Enthusiasm”. Watch for me this year as I join my friends comedians Jeff Allen, Brad Stine and Ron Pearson as part of the “Apostles of Comedy” tour in churches throughout the country an in comedy shorts that I’ve written and produced.

  7. Comedian Anthony Griffith Delivers - February 7, 2012

[...] Anthony Griffith really delivers the funny in this clip of him expressing the daily travails of being a married man. He speaks of how wives expect their husbands to back them up and protect them in all situations. He hilariously states how his wife escalates a certain situation by egging a mugger on even more. Griffith then goes on to elaborate how he has learned to apologize to his wife before anything problematic gets a chance to happen on that day. Finishing it off, he reminisces about a time before he got married and how he decided to just agree with whatever his future wife said, no matter how foolish it sounded, and to apologize for doubting her.
