Christian Women's speaker | hilarious yet deep, nuanced and inspiring.
Connie Cavanaugh is a Christian woman’s speaker and writer from Cochrane in Alberta, Canada. She is the author of several works, including Following God One Yes at a Time and From Faking it to Finding Grace. A graduate of the University of Saskatchewan, Connie holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education and previously taught English at the high-school level.
Connie was born in northern Saskatchewan to a religious family and was the fifth child out of eight in a family of seven girls and one boy. The death of one of her older sisters when Connie was 13 led to a period of emotional instability and unhappiness. Although she had been raised in a religious home and had attended church as a young girl, she had mostly lapsed in her practice during her turbulent teenage years. At the age of 18, she visited a Christian revival meeting and found her Christian faith as well as a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Connie was baptized in 1974, and she married Pastor Gerry Taillon in 1978. She began to work in the ministry leadership alongside her husband and became a source of support, friendship, and advice for her local Christian community.
Following a crisis of faith that occurred 20 years after her baptism and lasted for a decade, Connie published her book From Faking it to Finding Grace: Discovering God Again When Your Faith Runs Dry. She realized that she was not alone in how she felt and began to write about the experience so that others could renew their faith, her open and honest account of struggling with her faith in God while serving in the ministry alongside her husband has helped many people come back to a personal and fulfilling relationship with Jesus Christ. In addition to her books, Connie is a prolific and active writer for multiple publications. Her family humor column called “A Slice of Life” was a popular staple of Homelife magazine for five years running. She is a featured writer for both On Mission magazine and the Women Alive conferences. Connie is also a motivational speaker that works with Christian audiences around the world. She has given talks at events in North and South America, Europe, and the Caribbean. Her ability to talk about serious issues of faith with warm, humor, and grace have made her a popular and influential speaker in many different Christian communities.
Connie and her husband Gerry have two daughters and one son, as well as three grandchildren. She and her husband have been married for more than 30 years and enjoy traveling together, hiking and visiting with their family.
